Thanks to an optimal temperature control during the rolling process, we are able to guarantee a product characterized by a fine and homogeneous grain, to the advantage of downstream transformation processes (drawing, forging or heat treatment). The coils can reach up to a maximum weight of 3 tons, fully satisfying the flexibility market requirements. A vast number of steels ranging from low carbon and boron-free carbon steels, to high carbon and chromium-free carbon steels can be processed in our rolling lines, as well as chromium, silicon and vanadium alloyed steels. The high level of microinclusional purity and surface quality make it possible to supply material used in the production of bolts or springs for the automotive sector, in drawing, in mechanics or for bearings. The heat treatment furnaces with controlled atmosphere that are part of the plant allow annealing heat treatments that comply with the market demands in terms of surface globulation and decarburization.
Cold rolled products
Continous cast raw material
A wide range of continuous cast raw blooms meet the demand for products of various sizes and steel grades, also for our internal rolling and forging production flows. High-quality raw material for all products, capable of reaching the record section of 850 mm.
Our range of ingots offers you a greater choice of very high-quality products, thanks to a combination of factors: experience, expertise of the ABS operators and a certified process control system.
Our two rolling lines, Luna and Marte, produce a complete range of products to meet your every requirement. In our quest to provide the highest quality, we constantly check compliance with the heating parameters and choose rolling techniques that are suitable for the variety of steel grades, applying the type of cooling that is most suited to the rolled product. The final stages are product inspection and conditioning, if necessary.
We are able to supply forged products in a vast range of sizes and steel grades. Likewise, this flexibility is applied to the finishes, which are tailored to meet our customers’ requirements. In fact, we also supply raw or turned forgings, either in their natural state or after heat treatment. Our Danieli Breda automatic forging plant processes carbon steels, case hardening steels, steels for quenching and tempering, hot creep-resistant steels and martensitic stainless steels.
The rotoforged product is an innovative product designed to finish even larger dimensions. The rotoforged product manages to combine the strengths of a rolled product and a forged product into a single large product. As part of the development strategy, the Rotoforgia was installed and integrated into the Marte Line in 2015, after the Blooming 1000 with cooling bed (2014) and the new Reversible 800 mill with in-line finishing.
At ABS we put into practice courses and activities focused on waste management and recovery of materials that come from our steel production processes. Ecogravel® is one of these; it is a black or white granular sand by-product that we have been transforming for use in different sectors since 2005. Ecogravel® Black is a high-performance component mixed in concrete, cementitious mixtures and bituminous conglomerates or more simply recycled asphalt which has been used in the construction of over 528 km of roads in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia in recent years. Ecogravel® White, on the other hand, is ideal for use in cement and soil stabilization, especially in road groundworks to prevent subsidence. In 2007, we opened the Global Blue plant for the industrialized production of Ecogravel®, which has an output of around 200,000 tons per year. This is an example of circular economy that contributes to saving natural resources and opens up new market opportunities.
